Shoto Japanese Steak HSE & SFD

Food was so EXTREMELY SWEET it was impossible to enjoy (-4 points). It was not a positive first time for my guests either.The redeeming part of the dinner was the incredible waitstaff (+1 point).

I don't know what you changed, but the last 2 visits, your food has been amazing! The filet and chicken combo with noodles is so very good. And your soup...yum! Service has gotten better too.

Wow awesome food! I had the shrimp, mushrooms, zucchini with the General tso sauce. Heat (3). Excellent fried rice.

Amazing food everytime! Shoto's has to be one of the most consistent restaurants I've been to. We order takeout and dine-in frequently. Waitresses are always very friendly. I also love the fact that the sinks in the bathroom are low enough for my two year old to reach. Highly recommend this place.

If i could give 10 stars I would love to eat there or take it with me my husband and I eat there often I would recommend it to anyone! I have never not one time went in there and got bad food or bad service! Sometimes a bit of a wait but its worth it for good service and great food!

They make sure everything is right Everytime down to leaving they are so sweet !!! I love the decorations it's Unique and Simple ! The Owners are the Best !! You will Love them ! We Do ! Jimmy is amazing! Mixologist doesn't begin to describe his abilities. Tell him what you like and he makes you something that tastes ten times better. Easily $20 drinks in any other town. Come here if you want to be blown away .....

Just moved to Lexington & I've been trying out the local restaurants. Now you may know that Lexington is known for bbq so I didn't know what to expect from a Japanese restaurant here but I absolutely loved the place. Cozy atmosphere, the servers are great, & the food was so delicious. I tried all of the meats in the house special entree & everything was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back again!

Great family owned business in the heart of our now beautiful small town. Food has been consistent for the 13 years I have lived here! Wait staff is attentive, and neatly dressed. The restaurant is always kept clean, and well organized. **Bonus** Jimmys Bar upstairs is a hidden gem filled with an artsy vintage charm, serving perfectly crafted cocktails! Just be sure you check the hours because they are limited to weekends!

Shoto is my favorite restaurant in Lexington. The food is always fresh and delicious. My usual order is the hibachi steak but you can't go wrong with anything from the menu. I would definitely suggest the chicken & cheese egg rolls or the tempura zucchini is you like appetizers. The staff is always incredibly kind and helpful. The Huynh's are an incredibly nice family and run a top notch restaurant. I always enjoy the music here as well. Be sure to check out Jimmy's Bar upstairs! Overall, the atmosphere here is always very chill and relaxing. It's a great place to grab a meal, a drink, or maybe even both, any day of the week.At peak lunch time or dinner hours parking can be scarce in uptown Lexington. I've always found it the easiest to park on the side street or in the square. Both are easy to get in and out of and fairly close to the restaurant.

Delicious chicken and cheese eggrolls! Hibachi steak and chicken plate with sweet carrots plus a variety vegetables with lo mein noodles is both filling and a flavorful explosion! Highly recommend

Shoto is such a gem of a place. Awesome location, killer upstairs bar and the food is just excellent. The menu is very clearly laid out, where you choose your protein and can pair it with a variety of veggies and sides and a starch. There are certain things Japanese dives have to nail...and Jimmy and Co. sweat the small details; the shrimp sauce, the clear onion soup, the attention to detail on the appetizers, and even the decor: it's all perfection. If you're wanting something really indulgent, ask for the firecracker chicken or shrimp: it's breaded and fried to perfection, and it's drizzled with what I think is some sort of spicy mayo. It's so stinking good. If you're up for a longer night, be sure to hit up Jimmy's bar upstairs, the cocktails redefine handcrafted and a lot of love goes into them, much as it does in everything else here. Highly recommended.

This place is one of the best and most consistent restaurants I've ever been to. The food is fantastic, the service is wonderful, and no matter how packed the place is, they feed you quickly and well. You get a lot of food for a great price, and I have never had a bad meal here. Definitely a favorite.

We have enjoyed several dinners at this restaurant. Last night was not that enjoyable. My wife meal was good but my sesame chicken didn’t taste good at all. The staff was very friendly and nice as always. I told two different employees that my chicken tasted like it was fried in old oil. Both of them informed me that has just changed the oil. Well something was wrong for sure. I ate my veggies and left the chicken for the garage were it belonged. Not a good experience!!!

Very good food! Portion size is good. Prices for some items are a bit high but most are reasonable. Restaurant is very small, not a lot of seating. No parking lot but plenty of street parking depending on time you go, later is better as the other businesses close so more parking will be available. Women's toilet is very very low to the floor and there is no handicap bar to assist in getting up.

Very delicious! Generous portions and cozy atmosphere. The music choice was a weird ambiance but it made for a unique and fun experience

The food is ok. A good place to just go eat with hubby or friends. I just wish they served sushi again! I think that would make it better :)!

45 minute wait for food and the waitress was rude when I simply asked about our food and she said it's been cooked and walked away. Simply a terrible first time at this shotos i will travel for now on for better quiality because the food is sweet?!?!. Best of luck to anyone who wishes to eat here.

Outstanding flavors. The Coconut Tempura Scallops were wonderful and the Lo Mein Noodles were perfect. Also enjoyed the Thai spring rolls and the Tempura Zucchini. Try anything on the menu and you will enjoy it

The chicken is excellent, and steak is cooked to order, just doesn't have much flavor. Wait staff is very attentive and nice. It should be noted that the restaurant is not handicap accessible in any way.

Really good food. Interesting concept for a hibachi place. You pick your protein, sides, and choose between about 12 different kinds of sauce!

Best Japanese in town! Best in the county! Don't let it's small corner location deceive you. The food is quality and packed full of flavor, the service is exceptional. I've lived in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Salisbury as my job demands. I still make the drive for this!

Excellent food and great service. My boyfriend and I took our 10 month old son in and the waitresses loved him and kept him smiling while we ate.
